Congrats! Now find your venue without the weekend drives.
Your first 30 days, the questions venues hope you won't ask, and real starting prices for New Jersey venues. Every one has a 360° tour you can walk through tonight.
Engaged? Do these six things, in this order.
Celebrate, then insure the ring
Tell the people who matter, enjoy it, and add the ring to a homeowners/renters policy or a standalone jewelry policy before anything else.
Rough out a guest count
Each of you (and each family) writes a list, then merge them into an A-list and a B-list. Guest count changes your venue cost more than anything else, and it decides which rooms even fit.
Set a total budget, and who pays what
Agree on a number before you fall in love with a ballroom. Venue and catering are usually the biggest line item, so know your per-person ceiling going in.
Pick a season and 2–3 date options
Saturday nights from May to October are the most in-demand and most expensive. Fridays, Sundays and November–April dates can save real money at the same venue.
Shortlist 5–8 venues with 360° tours
Walk through ballrooms, ceremony sites and cocktail spaces from your couch. Cut anything that doesn't fit your guest count, budget or vibe before you spend a Saturday driving.
Tour your top 2–3 in person and get quotes
Ask for pricing on your actual dates, in writing. Then book the venue first; your date unlocks everything else (photographer, band/DJ, planner).
What NJ wedding venues actually cost
Starting prices gathered from each venue's own site and public listings. Per-person estimates usually don't include the service/admin fee or NJ sales tax, and Saturday nights in peak season cost the most. Use them to shortlist, then get a real quote for your date.

How to use 360° tours to cut your list in one night
Open the tour together on the couch. Walk the path your guests will take: ceremony → cocktail hour → ballroom. Ask: does the room feel full or empty at our guest count? Where would photos happen? Is there a real rain plan? If the answer is “no” in 360°, it's no in person too. Only the venues that survive get a Saturday visit.
Questions to ask every venue before you sign
- What exactly is included in the per-person price (cocktail hour, open bar, cake, ceremony)?
- What is the service/admin fee percentage, and is NJ sales tax (6.625%) added on top?
- Is there a food-and-beverage minimum for our date and day of the week?
- Is there a separate ceremony fee? What is the rain plan for outdoor ceremonies?
- How many weddings do you host the same day, and do we get exclusive use of the space?
- What are the deposit and payment schedule, and the cancellation/postponement policy?

Newly engaged questions
How far in advance should we book a wedding venue in New Jersey?
For a Saturday in peak season (May–October) at a popular NJ venue, many couples book 12–18 months out. Fridays, Sundays and off-season dates often have availability much sooner, so if you're flexible on the day, you can book later and often pay less.
How much does a wedding venue cost in New Jersey?
Among the New Jersey venues we feature, per-person packages start from about $80 to $175, and top-tier packages at luxury estates can run $350+ per person. Most per-person prices exclude a service/admin fee (often around 20–23%) and NJ sales tax (6.625%), so always ask for an all-in quote for your date.
What should we do first after getting engaged?
Get a rough guest count and a total budget before touring venues. Those two numbers decide which venues fit, and the venue (and its date) is the booking that unlocks every other vendor.
Can we tour NJ wedding venues online before visiting?
Yes. Every venue on 360SiteVisit has a 360° virtual tour shot on location, so you can walk through the ballroom, ceremony site and cocktail spaces from home and only schedule in-person visits at your top picks.
